Extending CIFFTA to diverse stressed and marginalized populations

  • CIFFTA was originally developed for Latino adolescents and families but its components and processes have been extended to work with marginalized populations other than the Latino population.
  • CIFFTA is currently being used successfully with African American and Haitian American youth and families, and with LGBTQ youth and their families. CIFFTA’s framework also lends itself to working in international contexts in which immigration, acculturation, discrimination, and other marginalization process work against the well-being of new members of a community and society.
